Polling

Polling Locations & Voting Hours

Find Your Polling Location

Your polling place is assigned based on your registered address and may change between elections. Always confirm your location before Election Day.

Polling Hours

Polls are open 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on Election Day for all state and federal elections. If you are in line by 8:00 pm, you are entitled to vote.

What to Bring

First-time voters may be asked for ID. Accepted forms include a current MA driver's license, state ID, utility bill, bank statement, or any government document showing your name and address.

How Voting Works

Massachusetts uses optical-scan paper ballots. You fill in the oval next to your choices with a pen or marker, then feed the ballot into a scanner. Results are auditable and verifiable.

Accessibility

All Massachusetts polling places are required to be accessible to voters with disabilities. Accessible voting machines and assistance are available at every location. Contact your local clerk for accommodations.

Provisional Ballots

If your name is not on the voter list, you can cast a provisional ballot. Election officials will verify your eligibility after the election. Call 1-800-462-VOTE (8683) to check if your ballot was counted.

Early Voting

Massachusetts offers in-person early voting at designated locations in every city and town in the weeks before state primary and general elections. Check your local city or town clerk for early voting dates and locations.
